Doctor Clara Hayden?
Here’s a hint.
Doctor Clara Hayden?
Here’s a hint.
Hmmmm what do you think? Do you think Bibles should be allowed in schools?
You might be surprised with the answer.
When I was a young girl, at the start of school we had milk and cookies, said the pledge of allegiance to the American flag, and shock and horror!!!!
Those were different times, in the 1950’s and early 60’s some of the biggest school discipline problems were gum chewing and hair pulling. Unfortunately today, children are bringing weapons and drugs with them to school. Gang activity seems at times to be unbridled in many of our schools. Reportedly kids as young as middle school age are having sex in the school bathrooms.
During those days (50’s and 60’s) there were no policemen in the hallways; true I did get swatted a time or two by my teacher (5th grade/Ga.). But for the most part we (the students) went to school to learn. Our teachers were there to teach. There are/have been five members of my immediate family in education (ranging from special needs teacher, grade school teachers, professor, and currently an assistant principle). My heart goes out to teachers in the 21st century, our schools are powder kegs.
The teachers have become either fearful or they are just there to collect a paycheck. Police are called for everything, many schools have police assigned to their schools. As a nation we seem to be spiraling out of control in so many areas. But sticking with the school theme I came across this article that was written in 2012 regarding crazy things school children were being arrested for. One thing that I found very disturbing was the discovery of School to Prison Pipelines.
Schools used to be a place for learning. In order for them to get back on track (I do understand that there are exceptional schools and teachers in America) I would just like that to be the norm instead of an anomaly.
In closing I would love to see Bibles in schools. In schools across America on a given day you are bound to find drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, condoms, weapons, etc…
Students are allowed to share their faith at school… if they do it on their own time. And ss long as there are test in schools, there will be prayer.
For more information regarding what’s taking place 10-8-15, other than a very important wedding anniversary 🙂
Are you off to a good start? I know many people make New Years Resolutions only to see them kind of ‘peter out’ two or three months into the new year. Hopefully this is not the case with you. I encourage you to stand strong in all of your goals! You can do it!
Do you have a nemesis, a seemingly unbeatable opponent?
This is what the above list can become if allowed to eat up your minutes. Don’t let them! Remember all things in moderation. There are one thousand four hundred and forty minutes in a day use them wisely!
How many minutes would it take for you to learn a new skill, to clean out your closet, or write that novel that has been pinging around in your head? Did you know that if you read pretty quick you could read the book of John in 60 minutes? There is a site that I came across that tells you how many minutes it take to lose one pound – http://www.healthstatus.com/perl/calculator.cgi
It’s funny how when we are younger we seem to be able to get away with eating any and everything we want… maybe it is because we are more active. Word of advice to the young and young at heart; take care of yourself. Start eating healthier and exercising your body. Don’t wait until the doctor tells you can’t have certain things anymore due to your health.
Did you know that you don’t have to put a lid on a bucket of live crabs? Do you want to know why? It’s because the crabs grasp each other with their claws and won’t let go. If they spent less time holding each other down they could all escape to freedom.
Some people are that way. If they can’t get out of the bucket then no one can. Be mindful of who you share your dreams and aspirations with. The claws come in many disguises; jealousy, envy, fear, and doubt – to name a few.
Stay positive. Be hopeful. Stay on track, and keep your dreams before your face. Do not live your life wasting time. However do not spend every second of the day working your fingers to the bone. I do not suggest this, but if you were to rest for 2,573 minutes you could lose one pound 🙂 So they say. But that’s almost two days. Everything in moderation, remember?
Remember you only have 1,440 minutes at your disposal today…
How will you use them?
To everyone that liked and or commented on any of my post last year… Thank you!
I’ve haven’t posted in awhile because I was feeling guilty. What was causing the guilt; I was spending more time on wordpress than on my website. ;->
So much work, so little time LOL.
Have you ever been guilty of putting off the hard things choosing rather to do the fun, and easy things? Well that’s the trap I fell into. As a result I didn’t work on either. Bad move. Time to get moving, or in this case ‘writing’. I heard a poem read a few minutes ago… thought I would pass it on.
The title –
If things go bad for you
And make you a bit ashamed
Often you will find out that
You have yourself to blame
Swiftly we ran to mischief
And then the bad luck came
Why do we fault others?
We have ourselves to blame
Whatever happens to us,
Here is what we say
“Had it not been for so-and-so
Things wouldn’t have gone that way.”
And if you are short of friends,
I’ll tell you what to do
Make an examination,
You’ll find the faults in you…
Your the captain of your ship,
So agree with the same
If you travel downward
You have yourself to blame

It’s time to take responsibility for our actions, or inaction in my case.
An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water…
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.
‘I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.’
The old woman smiled, ‘Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side?’
‘That’s because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.’
For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.
Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.’
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You’ve just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
Have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!
Many times we look at ourselves as that cracked, imperfect pots. There always seems to be an abundance of perfect pots around for us to look at and compare ourselves to. Very seldom do we take the time to see what we may have to offer, or what we bring to the table.
To be so forgiving of the flaws we see in others… and yet so critical of ourselves.
Lighten up ;->
This is a poem I came across back in June of 2010. I thought it appropriate to post it here. Are there times when you say or do things and you wish you hadn’t? I know I have. Making blunders can foster uncertainty, and fear, if you allow them.
I keep my paint brush with me
Wherever I may go,
In case I need to cover up
So the real me doesn’t show.
I’m so afraid to show you me,
Afraid of what you’ll do – that
you might laugh or say mean things.
I’m afraid I might lose you.
I’d like to remove all my paint coats
To show you the real, true me,
But I want you to try and understand,
I need you to accept what you see.
So if you’ll be patient and close your eyes,
I’ll strip off all my coats real slow.
Please understand how much it hurts
to let the real me show.
Now my coats are all stripped off.
I feel naked, bare and cold,
and if you still love me with all that you see,
you are my friend, pure as gold.
I need to save my paint brush, though,
And hold it in my hand,
I want to keep it handy
In case someone doesn’t understand.
So please protect me, my dear friend
And thanks for loving me true,
But please let me keep my paint brush with me
Until I love me, too.
Author is believed to be Bettie B. Youngs; I don’t remember where I found the poem, but I did enjoy it. What do you think about the thoughts she expressed?
